RE: ~Post your campsite photos here~

clkelley564, NO BUGS were gettin' in your trailer! Clearly you were determined about that. That is a facsinating set up you have!:)
That's the plan. It also serves to allow me to leave the camper door open and let some of that airconditioning onto the "porch".

Lake Guntersville State Park, Guntersville, AL, Site C16, Water, Electric. Nowhere near the lake, but was lucky to get a site at all. First come, first serve, no reservations except on holiday weekends, then it's a 3 night minimum. The electric hookup is on the back of the site, and the water hookup was even further away. Need at least 35 ft of water hose for this one. Comfort station and grey water dump close by. Camp store very close.

Mountain Stream RV Park, Marion, NC, Site 12 www.mountainstreamrvpark.com
Water, Electric, Sewer, Free WiFi (no television reception or Cell Signals, Satellite Radio did work). Back-In Site right on the stream. Immaculate RV park, friendly hosts, usually a Saturday night Pot Luck, and often some type of Saturday night entertainment. There was a Gospel Quartet performing when we were there.

Overnighter RV Park, Athens, TN, Site 5
This was a quick over night stop and was a great little park for that. Pullthrough site with water, electric, and sewer and Direct TV (if you had a receiver). Each site had a concrete patio, picnic table and a couple of chairs. Very clean and well kept. Less than a mile from the Interstate and Good Sam. Wifi available for a fee. Clean bath house.

I've stayed in this campground and site before, but here are a couple of pictures of my latest setup here. I was able to set up sideways, so our neighbors we were camping with were'nt staring at the back of our camper.

We will be going to Florence Marina for Memorial Day Weekend. I love your camper, clkelley. How did you find the mickey mouse heads to put down the side?
I made them. I bought a roll of the automotive vinyl film. Made three circles in PowerPoint on regular paper, then cut them out and taped it to the backside of the roll, then cut out the figures.

Piedmont Sports Plex, Piedmont, AL. If you are with a youth group or Scout Troop traveling the Chief Ladiga Bike Trail, you can call the Piedmont Department of Parks & Recreation to get permission to camp here. No shower facilities, but flush restrooms at the ball field and a water hose available. We did find a 20 AMP electrical outlet on a light pole and decided to use it because one of the adults needed to plug in a CPAP machine.

However, if you don't already have reservations at Ft. Wilderness, you may be out of luck there too. A lot of folks rave about Turkey Lake Park. Only $18 per night.

RE: Post your tow vehicle pics here

Just got the new Tow Vehicle and I think it's going to do great!
The 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac V8 XLT 4X4 has a higher tow rating and a higher fully optioned payload than my previous 2004 Nissan Titan XE Crew Cab Off Road 4X4.
Has 7000 lbs of towing and a base payload of 1400 lbs. After fully optioned, I still have 1220 lbs of payload left. It has a 4.6L V8 with 292 Hp and 300 lbs of torque. Has a 131" wheel base which equals the fullsize Chevy Avalanche and is only 8" short of the normal Crew Cab/Short box fullsize wheelbase.
So far I'm getting better mileage than my previous 2005 4.0L V6 4X4 Nissan Pathfinder and I only have 300 miles on it! I expect 1 to 2 mpg improvement after 3000 miles.

Have a good one.
That's a pretty one!! I've been drooling on the Ford website lately but will stick with my 02 Sport Trac for now. (It's paid for!!!) I do have a question though. Did you get the 7-pin Class III towing package and if so, does it already have the charge line for the camper battery??

RE: Friday at the DMV

Next year do it on line now that you have it "fixed". For the $3.00 fee I just stayed home and let them mail the stickers to me.
It won't be fixed. It was "fixed" last year and "fixed" the year before.
I'm in Alabama too. I always do the vehicles online, but was informed that they can't and won't send out notices on the camper. :-(
So have to go in person for it.

RE: Jim Miller Park in Marietta, GA

Will be funny if this Tennesseean learns us Atlanta-types a thing or two about our own back yard! :) Do report back and let us know what you find out.
There are county parks with camping in other towns, why not here?
I was really surprised after searching for three days not to be able to find some kind of place to camp in the Atlanta area.
Our Scout troop is cycling the Silver Comet and Chief Ladiga Trail. They are having to stay at a hotel near the trailhead in Atlanta. I figured campgrounds would pop up all around the trail, but the only one seems to be RockMart which we will be using for one night. The closest RV park I found was in Norcross, and the closest true camping I found was at McKinney Campground (COE) and Stone Mountain, but both had two-night minimums and both were at least 25 miles from the trailhead.

RE: Looking for advice on campgrounds in/around Disney/ Orlando

Unfortunately, the water park upgrade discount doesn't apply to the Fort. The Fort stays so booked that they don't need to offer those deals. AAA and Annual Passholder/Florida Resident are about the only discounts offered for the Fort.
I LOVE Ft. Wilderness. My rig is so small that the tightness of sites doesn't bother me. I love the bus transportation. And the simple solution to not having room on your site is to park your tow vehicle or Toad out at the overflow lot. There is no need to keep it at your site!! Bring bicycles, bring your golf cart or rent one to get around inside the Fort. I NEVER drive when I'm there, and I'm the Queen of park hopping, resort hopping, and eating at restaurants all over property.
(While still rumor, some Cast Member friends of mine have seen on their computer screens a new category at the Fort called Deluxe Campsite) so there are going to be at least a couple of loops cleared out even further and sites widened. Of course until they pour the concrete and open it, nothing is fact at Disney.
